Masada: Battle for a Citadel: by Steven Wamboldt

First of all, I'd like to thank Joe Oliver for all the hard work he put into "Caesar: Alesia" and for "unknowingly" letting me borrow his symbol set to create this gameset.

Secondly, I'd like to thank Patrick Hirtle for supplying the pics for the game. (They arrived by e-mail within hours of requesting them).

This game was originally designed by myself within a few hours of having watched the made-for-TV movie "Masada" back in the late 70's?? (or was it early 80's?) As a result, don't expect giant leaps in historical accuracy and simulation. Besides, I was still in school and in that "awkward" stage.

The game is truly a "beer and pretzels" experience. To experience it as the original combatants did, you must first turn on the furnace as high as it will go and then turn on the de-humidifier to its maximum. Then get naked and wrap yourself in large quantities of plastic food wrap. If you plan on eating anything (no drinking allowed unless of course you drink lots of alcohol to dehydrate yourself), you must only eat dry bread. Do this for several days and then begin the game. As a general rule, take a leave of absence from your job, as the recommended number of turns to play is one every other day. Enjoy.
